Holiday Grand Plan--Twofer

Yes, it's a two for one week for the Holiday Grand Plan--I totally skipped last week.  Well, that's how it goes around here when I work six out of nine days.  Looking back, it was probably because I had a cuckoo ending to the end of Saturday's shift--three deliveries in the last hour of the shift, two beautiful, one scary with a good ending.  Emotionally, it takes me a while to get back on track, especially when I'm the charge nurse two nights in a row. 

So here you go--TWO weeks of Holiday Grand Plan! 

It's a good week to have a twofer as they are Garage/Storage Week and Attic/Storage Week.  Last week was Garage Week.  Here is the actual link to Garage/Storage Week.

"Week Eleven, Garage/Storage Week, at the Holiday Grand Plan gets us into garage and storage areas. The waning days of Autumn are a good time to rout out household storage areas, so we're ready to access extra tables, chairs and seasonal decorations.
In holiday prep, we look ahead to the Thanksgiving meal, and see to the family's holiday clothing.

Deep Cleaning/Organizing Area: Garage

Holiday Prep:

• Make one batch of Holiday Goodies.
• Make one extra meal for freezer again labeled HOLIDAY MEAL.
• Buy two canned food items from menus (get 2 of each item, one to use and one to donate to food drive).
• Buy 1/8th of TO BUY gifts. Save all receipts, note return policy before buying. Ask for gift boxes.
• Wrap and label packages. If needing to ship, get some shipping boxes now and store packages in them.
• Work at least 1 hour a day on homemade gifts.
• Review and revise menus and other plans.
• Plan table setting
• Plan centerpiece, make as much as possible now (or order it from florist).
• Reserve any items needed to be borrowed or rented.
• Get everyone's holiday clothes purchased/cleaned/pressed.

Attic Week

Cooler weather makes it easy to check and organize the attic and storage areas during Week Twelve, Attic Week. We continue to move toward Thanksgiving in holiday prep. Are you working on holiday gifts?

Holiday Prep:

• Make 3x5 card for each serving dish, list what goes in it, garnish, how much before dinner can it go in and serving silverware used with it; tape it to edge of dish.
• Be sure all dishes are clean!
• Borrow or buy any additional serving dishes needed.
• Buy reusable foil bakeware from party paper place.
• Are linens clean and ready? Unfold and verify that all spots can be hidden by centerpiece.
• Work on centerpiece.
