Peanut Butter Balls

Here is the promised recipe. It is a recipe that my mom has used for years; she got it from a neighbor, Marian Theobald. (Thanks, Marian!)

Peanut Butter Balls

* 4 cups sugar
* 2 stick butter
* 1 cup condensed milk
* 2 cups peanut butter
* 2 tablespoon vanilla
* 6 cups oatmeal

In a heavy saucepan bring to a boil, slowly. Add the sugar, butter and milk. Let boil for 1 minute then add peanut butter, vanilla and oatmeal. Drop mixture by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. You may want to roll them into more compact balls with your hands--let the balls cool a bit first and butter your hands or you will have ten pound peanut butter ball covered hands.
This makes an enormous amount of balls, but you can easily halve the recipe.
They store GREAT in the freezer.
